International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2017
The Association of the Caribbean States (ACS), through the Directorate of Sustainable Tourism (DST) is participating in the 37 Edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR).
The event was held in the city of Madrid, Spain from the 18th to 22nd of January 2017. The International Tourism Fair is the global meeting point for tourism professionals and leader for the receptive markets and issuers of Iberoamerica where the trends, needs offered by the Tourism sector are presented, among them the Mayan Caribbean Tourism product, Multidestination presented by the Republic of Honduras and Guatemala with support of the Wildlife Fund. The initiatives highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the Region.
During the FITUR, bilateral meetings of the ACS were held with strategic partners of the DST by Mr. Julio Orozco.
Such diplomatic encounters began in the morning with Mr. Carlos Vogeler, Director-Executive Secretary of Relations with Members of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), at the same time he was received by the Minister of Tourism of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Mrs. Marleny Contreras, Mr. Ali Padrón, Vice Minister of International Tourism and Mr. Franklin Rangel, Director of International Cooperation, with the aim to initiate the planning activities of the 28th Special Committee Meeting of Sustainable Tourism, which will be held in their country in July of this year.
