Colombian Embassy in T&T Commemorates Independence
Colombian Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago and representative to the ACS Martha Cecilia Pinilla Perdomo marked the 211th anniversary of Independence with a small toast to her country. In attendance were Ambassadors to Trinidad and Tobago from France - Serge Lavroff, Perú - David Malaga, Chile - Juan Anibal Barría García, Mexico - Rosario Asela Molinero Molinero and Deputy Head of the Colombian mission in T&T Heidi Cortes Acosta.
Colombia declared its independence in 1810, after three centuries of Spanish rule which started in 1499. On July 20, 1810, an uprising in Bogotá led to the Declaration of Independence in Santa Fe de Bogotá.
