ACS meets with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management
The Directorate of Disaster Risk Reduction, Environment and Caribbean Sea (DECS) led by Ana Leticia Ramirez Cuevas, attended a meeting with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) on June 1, 2022. The ODPM, led by Major General (Ret.) Rodney Smart, hosted the meeting which allowed the ACS and ODPM to discuss current initiatives as well as visions for upcoming projects and activities. In addition to reviewing their respective work plans, both sides discussed areas of synergy and future collaboration between the ACS and ODPM on disaster risk reduction. ODPM detailed its progress on local integrated disaster management policy, hazard and vulnerability assessment and especially early warning systems in the Caribbean as the sub-regional focal point of the CDEMA. DECS saw the meeting as an opportunity to build a future partnership for the benefit of the states of the Greater Caribbean. Also participating in the meeting were Anwar Baksh, Curmira Gulston and Brett Lucas of the ODPM and Cherisse Braithwaite-Joseph and Christal Benjamin of the ACS.
